Basic Features: Mindjet MindManager 2018: Creating Mindmaps
MindManager is often referred to as mindmapping software. This is what most people will think of MindManager. This is where we’ll begin our review.
Mindjet Mindmanager 2018: This is the homepage where you can choose the template that you want to use. It’s very easy to create a mindmap. This is the first template that will be suggested to you on your ‘homepage’ screen. Click it and then click ‘Create Map’.
You’ll be able to walk through the tutorial the first time you land. However, you can always return to it later. I didn’t finish the tutorial because I wanted to see how intuitive the product was.
To change the text, click in the box ‘Central Topic’.
A Mindmanager mindmap is created. It has a Central Topic that you can fill in. I entered MindManager Features and was delighted to see that the box resized perfectly when I hit Enter.
To add a bubble to your main topic or at any level in the mindmap, click ‘New Topic’.
You can add subtopics to the bubble that you are currently in by clicking the ‘New Subtopic’ button. You can navigate between bubbles using the cursor keys. This makes it easier to navigate around the mindmap.
The Mindmanager icon menuHow do I add pictures to the Mindmap?
You have two options to add pictures: add icon and add image.
It is easy to add an icon to a topic bubble. Make sure your cursor is in the topic area where you want the icon added. Next, go to the icon menu (Home tab), and select the icon you wish from the list. This will insert an icon to the right of your text.
There aren’t many icons, but there are plenty of progress indicators, priority markers flags, flags, smileys, and flags to help you find the most important things. You can choose from a variety of icons for letters, numbers, and Greek symbols by clicking on the ‘More Icons” menu option.
You can add images to an icon that doesn’t represent what you want.
You can access the image library by using either the ‘Insert>Image” menu or the Library pane, which opens when you add an icon.
The image selection is amazing. There are categories for business, strategy, calendars and files. You can also find people, meetings, and people. I love the Sketches submenu. These features can really personalize your mindmaps.
Images are added to the topic bubble that holds the cursor. They are larger than icons. I would not mix icons and images in my mindmap, or at least with caution, because it causes the bubbles to look different sizes.
This is how MindManager mindmaps links look
Make sure your cursor is in a correct topic bubble. Next, click ‘Link’ on the Home tab.
Paste the link in the pop-up box. If you wish, change the title. Click OK.
The icon will be displayed next to the topic.
